St Michael's Church Heritage Open Day will take place on Saturday 14th September between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.  Our historic Church has taken part in this national festival of history for many years and we look forward provide you with a warm welcome and the opportunity to have a tour around our Grade II* listed building and grounds.

The activities on the day includes:

  • Parish registers from the 1920s onwards

  • Tours of our ancient churchyard at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

  • Climb the spiral staircase to the ringing room

  • Timeline and children's quiz

  • Old photographs and map

  • Refreshments available all day

Apart from the main Heritage Open Day, we are also offering an extra special midweek event for the first time this year!  Local historian, David Smith (from the Urmston and District History Society), is coming to St. Michael's to give a talk titled ‘Flixton for Dummies’.  This will take place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday 18th September.

Entrance for both events is free of charge, but we are encouraging donations via a collection plate to support the £100,000 plus required to restore and repair the Church's bell tower roof and lantern.

Please support these events and share them with your family and friends.
